CURRENT POSITIONS:

Senior Development Adviser, Dysg, Department of Education Lifelong Learning and Skills, Welsh Assembly Government (formerly Dysg - Learning and Skills Agency in Wales, UK).  Project Manager for Key Skills Support Programme Cymru and (January 2001 – present).  Plan and implement national support programmes for teachers and lecturers in 14-19 education in Wales.  Responsible for a team of nearly 25 consultants to deliver training, consultation, conferences, and seminars on teaching and learning strategies and effective programmes for delivering basic and key skills training.  Oversee preparation of bilingual (English and Welsh) teaching and learning resources for basic and key skills.  Recently project manager for National Support Project for Basic Skills In Further Education Colleges (2001-2005). Chief research officer for ‘Evaluation of the Basic Skills Support Development Fund’ for ELWa (2003), co-author of Teaching and Learning Guide for Information Technology (LSDA, 2002).  Member of Welsh Assembly sub-committee on the Continuum of Learning for 14-19 year olds in Wales and Key Skills subcommittee for Welsh Baccalaureate. 

 

Chairman of iEARN UK and member of Council of iEARN International. iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) is a non-profit organization registered in Spain.  It is made up of over 25,000 schools in more than 120 countries. iEARN empowers teachers and young people to work together online using the Internet and other new communications technologies. I have published nearly 40 articles, chapters and books in the field of education. I have made numerous state, national and international presentations at conferences and symposia on such topics as remedial reading and comprehension strategies for Learning Disabled students; child assessment strategies; methods of restructuring schools; developing global schooling programmes; and using technology in schools.
